Research
Our lab works across coral reef ecology and macroecology, from assemblage changes on coral reefs to the global scale in four main research projects.

CoralINT
CoralINT- Integrated Niche Theory is an ERC-funded project that aims to link environmental, compositional and functional change on coral reefs. It sits at the edge between ecological theory development and empirical testing in coral reef ecology, providing a unifying framework for the team members’ very diverse questions. This project brings the lab on extensive field data collection campaigns.
BioTIME Database
The Macroscope Lab manages the BioTIME database since 2014. BioTIME is the world’s largest standardised database on biological assemblage time-series, which tracks species and abundances over time at thousands of monitoring stations and study sites. The database is a free, publicly available, open-access resource. Our research team and collaborators use BioTIME to investigate global patterns of biodiversity change in the Anthropocene.
Leverhulme Centre for Anthropocene Biodiversity
The Leverhulme Centre for Anthropocene Biodiversity examines how the relationship between humanity and the natural world is changing, and how we might develop and maintain a sustainable Earth. Some of our lab members cover different positions within the Centre and we thrive in the affinity to their overarching research themes.
