Research interests

My interest in coral ecology has developed from a background in conservation work and studies in Environmental Science. For my PhD with the Macroscope Lab I will look at how coral growth is affected by local environmental conditions, community interactions, and disturbance events. I’m interested in scaling up from individual colony growth to demographic rates of communities. To do so, I am developing automated methods to attain coral size measurements and growth rates from 3D models, employing novel computer vision techniques.
